Cycle tracks through the Cleave?

Dog’s mess on Wrayland Path??

There are far, far worse things -

And one of them is heading straight for Lustleigh NOW

Unless YOU say NO!! to TETRA

We’ve all heard the murmurings of concern about mobile phone masts. As far back as July 1998 the Daily Mail carried the banner headline ’MOBILE PHONES IN NEW HEALTH WARNING’. The independent Stewart Report, commissioned by the Government, published in April 2000, carries various recommendations in its final section, entitled ‘A Precautionary Approach’. The following are just a couple of extracts from that section:

5.16. . . before accepting a new development we should have positive evidence that any risks from it are acceptably low, and not simply an absence of convincing evidence that risks are unacceptably high.

6.40 . . .we recommend that a precautionary approach to the use of mobile phone technologies be adopted until much more detailed and scientifically robust information on any health effects becomes available.

That was before TETRA

TETRA uses pulsed radiation: microwaves pulsed at 17.6 cycles per second - bang in the middle of the frequencies used in the brain’s natural rhythms. So as well as being microwave’d, you can have your brain scrambled at the same time - all in the comfort of your own home. This is no joke - the use of exactly this form of radiation in US and Russian weapons is well documented. Health Risks: Cancer, Leukaemia (especially in children), Brain Damage, Blindness, Heart Attacks, Epilepsy, Miscarriage, etc.

There is a Planning Application for a TETRA mast in Lustleigh. High Risk Zone extends approx. 1.25 miles radius. Deadline for objections: 23 August.

TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) is the pulsed microwave technology used in the BT ‘AirWave’ mobile communications system intended for use by the Police, Fire and Health Services. The Health Service have chosen to go for an alternative system, the Police are still considering the report that they commissioned on it (see below), the Fire Service are taking further advice.

NASA’s Chief Medical Scientist has declared that he would not let a TETRA handset anywhere near his head. The Stewart Report (see over) specifically warned against use of modulation (pulsing) rates around 16 cycles/second.

The NRPB (the government body advising on radiation issues) has produced a report on TETRA that includes many cautionary notes (including a serious lack of reliable data) - and a proposal that the emergency services will, in effect, provide a useful set of guinea pigs for “future epidemiological studies”. Masts, unlike mobile phones, are always transmitting - at a vastly higher power than a phone. Radiation effects are cumulative - being bathed in the invisible glow of a mast all day every day can lead to more serious results than even fairly regular use of a phone - and the phone user has a choice!

Authoritative Paper The Police Federation of England & Wales commissioned a report by Barry Trower, a scientist who has been involved in microwave research since the Sixties. Web link from starweave.com

LEGAL LIABILITY for illness OR property devaluation

In any case of illness OR loss of property value due to a nearby mast, the LANDOWNER whose land the mast is on is legally liable. Several US farmers have lost their farms and been bankrupted in this way. 150 cases awaiting hearing in the UK.
