This page contains various information to help you put together a letter of objection. If you decide to circulate a letter for a lot of people to use, it’s best to include a bit of ’personal’ content - even a couple of lines in pen at the bottom of a standard letter adds a bit of individuality. The planning authority will give more attention to variety in letters they receive than to totally identical letters sent in by a number of people. A lot of letters is also better than a lot of signatures on a petition, for the same reason (No harm in having both, though). |
|
Writing individual letters to each of the Planning Committee members is a very effective thing to do (and yes, it is allowed!) - if you can email at least some of them, this can save on postage. (The District Council web site should carry addresses, and possibly email contacts, for councillors). Most Local Authority websites include names and contact details for councillors, as well as lists of committee members. |

Also below are links to a page (2 sides of A4) of ideas that you may wish to include in a letter, and an example letter - the one that I sent to object to a proposal for a mast here in Lustleigh. |

PLEASE NOTE: The links below lead to documents prepared over two years ago, using the best information that was available at the time. ALL of those points still apply, but there is MUCH more that could now be included in a letter or flyer etc. |
