Subject: Problems Associated with Tetra Switch-on
Info: Health and TV reception problems are being reported by residents of Bognor, Littlehampton, Worthing and Shoreham.
Story: Bognor: Reports of health effects believed to be caused by Tetra mast on the Reynolds Building include: 1. Headaches 2. Nosebleeds (unusual and massive) 3. Nausea 4. Disorientation - described as like being aware but remote from one's actions 5. Confusion and lack of concentration 6. Dizziness 7. Localised skin heating and rashes and bad itchiness 8. Interrupted sleep
Littlehampton: All of the above plus severe migraines in children. Children from all local schools are failing to attend because of severe headaches, nausea and lassitude, often associated with lack of sleep.
Worthing: All of the above. Some examples of effects articulated at a meeting in Worthing in the lea of the active mast on Thursday (less than 100 metres away from Worthing Football Club) 1. Lack of useful sleep - being woken at 2.00am- and every 2 hours. Not getting into REM pattern - getting tireder and tireder 2. Persistent headache 3. Itching of the skin 4. Feeling very hot 5. Localised burning sensation 6. Disorientation - not quite there and slow to recognise things (good for driving?) 7. Like wearing a tight Hippy Band round the head 8. Nose bleeds 9. Migraines and worse 10. Induced epileptic fits 11. When the meeting broke up after 2 hours, the Chairman asked how many people had headaches which they did not have on arrival. Virtually everybody put their hands up.
Told anonymously by a policeman in another area to John O'Brien: Worrying story. Policeman brought a Tetra handset home. It was on the table. Young, healthy son pressed transmit and had an INSTANT and first epileptic fit.
TV Reception difficulties: Residents of all the above towns have been contacting Ofcom, Airwave and the Sussex Police with complaints about TV reception. ITV in Worthing is badly affected and BBC1 in the other areas. No-one will take responsibility.
In Worthing, a mother with an epileptic child uses her TV as a visual baby monitor. It cannot be used because of interference.
The Sussex Police Child Alert system is rendered ineffective where TV pictures preclude the reception of the message. This service cost £thousands to set up and is wiped out by Tetra.
Quote: John O'Brien, (Protect Sussex From Tetra), "Our physicist, Ian Sharp, Rod Burman from the Isle of Wight and I took readings from the masts above, including Chichester, and they were all active and clearly pulsing. When the Stewart Report, commissioned by the Government, says that pulsing should be avoided around 16Hz, and the active masts pulse at 17.65Hz, which is around this figure, it is not surprising that the health issues are now being reported. Additionally, if TV is being so badly affected, what is it doing to us?"
Andy Davidson, (resident near the Worthing Football Club), "I have not slept since the Worthing mast was switched on. I can sleep for 2 hours but wake up as if it is the start of the day. I never get any value sleep from the REM phase. I am so very, very tired."
Statement: Residents who experience problems of health and TV reception are asked to add to the health data collection database on the www.protectsussexfromtetra.org website so that the agencies involved, including the County Education Authorities, can be made aware of the REAL problems that people are having imposed upon them.
